All About Ms. Stein

Well, you already know me as a math teacher at Woodside High School, but did you know I am orginally from Pennsylvania?  You may also be interested to know that math was not my first choice.  I actually studied Chemistry, but one of my high school teachers explained to me that you need so much math for Chemistry, that you might as well get a certification in math too.  So, I earned my Bachelor of Science degree in Chemistry and Math Education from Juniata College

In college, I worked for the Science in Motion program, where I eventually ran the lab that sent Chemistry equipment to local high schools (I also taught labs in many of the high schools in the area).  The best part about this job was that I learned to blow stuff up really well!  In addition to working and classes, I was a member of the Chem Club, Null Set (the math and computer science club), the Choral Union, and the Juniata College Concert Choir.  As a member of the Concert Choir, I went on four spring break tours (Chicago, Florida, California, and Trinidad), and sung on four CDs.

After leaving college, I taught at Bentworth Middle School (about 1 hour south of Pittsburgh) for four years where I taught Physical Science, Seventh-grade General Math, and Cognitive Tutor Integrated Math.  I had some really cool students at Bentworth, but I really wanted to teach in a high school, and I REALLY wanted to get away from the snow, so I moved to Newport News!

When I'm not working on school work (checking papers, writing lessons, tests, and worksheets), I am chilling in front of the TV, doing puzzles, playing with the dog or cat, fishing, or camping.  If you want to know more, submit your questions using the form on the homepage.
